Hello! Hope you are enjoying your summer! Over here it’s going swimmingly! After a week off, it was time for summer enrichment! Though I am teaching a painting class, I figured color theory would be a fabulous pairing! So we’re off and running!
I have two groups of kids, ages 8-12, and no more than 13 in the group for 1.5 hours four days a week for two weeks. Got all that?
Here’s project number one! Presenting….(drum roll please)….Murano Glassware!
These beautiful vases are transparent so when light shines through, they almost glow. Place them close to each other and their color mixes; kinda like primary and secondary colors!
So the students drew their own glasswear on shelves.
Then added primary colors to them using watercolor. They were instructed to keep the areas where the glasswear overlapped unpainted for now.
And then on day two they painted the secondary colors where the two primary colors overlapped.
